Flat Coke and Saltines

Not quite the same thing as cigarettes and red vines, eh? Anyway, that's what I'm attempting to keep down right now. Phene7gan works wonders for nausea, but you only get to enjoy your nausea-free feeling in your sleep since it packs a soporific punch. Last night, I would wake up from it and think that my life was back to normal, since I didn't feel like ass, but then I remembered it was just temporary, which makes me feel...hmmm...how do you say it? Oh yes, despair. I felt despair. I even felt a little hungry on a couple of those occasions, but by the time I really woke up, it was back to nausea.

(Aside: Charlotte Bronte died of hyperemesis - so illustrious!)

Whatever happens with this pregnancy, I feel sure that it is going to be my first and last one. Have you ever had food poisoning? You know, where you alternate between severe nausea and urgent puking (even though you may have nothing left to puke)? That's what I feel like all day long, and that's what I fear stretches for months and months before me. I am beginning to feel as if fate was, in fact, telling me something by not letting me conceive the old-fashioned way. Fate, I apologize. I will never try to thwart you again.

I have an hour and a half more until I can take another Phene7gan, so I am going to try to get some work in, since we need my excellent health coverage, goddammit.

I'm glad you're feeling a little better, even if it's only temporary. Here's hoping this bout is over quickly, as in, by the end of the day.

WOW - I just returned from vacation to read your good news (along with your "bad" news about the morning sickness...

SO HAPPY FOR YOU! I hope the morning sickness subsides soon...

That is irony for you if I've ever seen it. Work so hard just to get pregnant, then once you finally achieve that miracle, it makes you sick as a dog. I'm so sorry you've been feeling so crappy. I hope things will settle down very soon and let you feel normal again!

So sorry you're feeling so terrible. I hope it gets better soon.

The evidence for twins mounts, eh? Although it's certainly possible to have really bad morning sickness with just one. Of course, if it's twins, and you wanted two kids, no need ever to get pregnant and live through this hell again! Hurray!

I've actually heard more women who have twins with NO symptoms at all (or very, very little) than with severe symptoms. Not sure why that is, just one of those funny nature quirks, I guess!

One of my friends had a singleton, and she was SICK AS A DOG for a good 5 months straight. She was throwing up about 5 times a day, until finally her doctor realized that was not "normal" and prescribed her some meds. (She was nearly hospitalized for dehydration, too) After the meds, she was better, not 100% but went on to have an otherwise unremarkable pregnancy.

I certainly hope things improve for you soon.

As much as M/S sucks (and I had it a little with my first unsuccessful pregnancy/miscarriage) I would do it again and again if it meant I was successfully pregnant for once.

Feel better soon!!
