Results, round one

The FISH results are back and the baby doesn't have Down syndrome or some other trisomies (15 and 18, I think; or maybe it was 13 and 18), nor any X or Y issues. And he is really a he.

I had my regular OB appointment yesterday and all seemed well then - heartbeat was chortling along at 154, and my blood pressure was something like 116 over 70, so pretty good, if a bit higher than my normal blood pressure. The OB does think I am "THE" prime candidate for postpartum depression (thank you very much) so she's twisting arms to get me into meet with this very in-demand combo OBGYN/psychiatrist who focuses on infertility and PPD. The hospital clearly needs about five of that woman.

Congrats on the good FISH results. And, IT'S A BOY!

Interesting with the combo OBGYN/pysch lady... I think her services are likely in high demand all over the place. I can only imagine how I will feel if I ever make it to pregnancy - it is just incredible how many things there are (or that we can find) to worry about, whether it's in treatment itself, in pregnancy or in post-partum.

Here comes my assvice - have you read Brooke Shields' book "Down Comes the Rain?" I found it to be really interesting. Whether you're a fan of her as a celeb or not, the book is a pretty good read for a preg. IF, in my opinion.

I agree with hopeful--the Brooke Shields book is a good read. I would be happy to send you mine that is collecting dust on my shelf. Personally I think most women have PPD but are to timid to "complain" especially after infertility....good call on your doc's part :)

Awesome news, congrats again, though not about the postpartum depression, but I do hope you get to see that doc.

Well, that's a relief! And congrats on the boy!! ;)

Not sure what to say to the "prime candidate for PPD" ....ummmm, that's not a very nice thing to say, is it?! LOL

Hopefully not -- although I DO know that unfortunately women who have gone through IF ARE more likely to end up with PPD -- how nice for us, hey?!

Good luck with everything!

Hooray for a boy!! And hooray for no trisomies. Wonderful news all around.

Boo for the high possibility of PPD, but as someone who is also a prime candidate, I think the best thing to do is be prepared -- have a support system ready ahead of time (i.e. a doctor on board that you can call if you're not doing well, a partner who can recognize the warning signs and be supportive, etc.)

So glad all the results came back okay! You look great, by the way, in the pictures you posted. It's so fun to see the belly starting to emerge. Congrats on your little boy!
